Just spoke to the doctor. Surgery was complicated but went well. Erin had a pathological fracture and no bone left at the back of the tibia. They removed the tumor then they froze the tissue to kill any remaining tumor cells. They filled the defect with bone cement. They then stabilized the tibia with a bone plate. Erin will not be allowed to place weight on her leg for 6 weeks. The earliest she will go home is Saturday. Erin has a long hard road ahead of her. Recovery and rehab are going to be rough but Erin is strong. Doc said ther is a chance the repair could fail. If the repair fails she may need a total knee replacement. She is still in recovery and we should get to see her soon.
